Information Application

Welcome to Kulturama – Scandinavia’s largest art school

Kulturama is the largest school in Scandinavia for artistic studies at the post-secondary school level. Kulturama is a separate branch of Medborgarskolan, a non-profit adult study organisation. The school accepts 373 students per year and approximately 3 000 students per term on evening classes. Kulturama has over 30 years’ experience of running courses and training in a wide range of artistic expressions. We offer 25 full-time courses and 9 part-time courses in song, music, composition, musical production, dance, theatre, opera, show musicals, photography and  film.

The courses are primarily for students in Sweden and the other Nordic countries, although in certain cases also for students with an English-speaking background, since art courses generally have a very practical and individualised orientation. If you are an English-speaking student and are interested in any of our courses, please contact us at Kulturama by telephone or e-mail so that we can discuss in more detail your personal opportunities and background as a preliminary to studying on one of Kulturama’s full-time courses. Even though the language of instruction is usually Swedish, the individual dialogue and the process of development in an artistic profession is international. The following course descriptions contain further information on the course contents and whether it is possible to accept applicants from a non-Nordic country.

Courses
Our full-time courses are under government supervision and are eligible for study grants. As a foreign student, this usually means that you are eligible for a study loan from your home country. Check this before making your application to Kulturama, as you are not eligible to take a loan from the Swedish government for your studies. As a foreign student, you may pay your study line fees in instalments. The term fee may be divided into four separate payments/term at a supplementary with no charge.

Applications
You can apply on our homepage www.kulturama.com. Note that you must bring with you a passport photograph to the test occasion. The final application date is specified for each course. The test fee for application to a course is SEK 150. When you are called to a test interview, you will receive an invoice for the test fee. This includes the school’s administrative costs.

Admission
Acceptance on the courses is made by means of a skills test and/or an interview. The admission tests are conducted during the period (approx) 1 April – 15 June. The invitation to an admission test will be sent out at the latest by the time of the final application date for each respective line.

Once you have passed the admission test / interview, you will be assigned a place on the course which Kulturama deems most suitable for you. Kulturama will then send you a line contract, where you will be asked to confirm in writing the place you have been assigned. Your application thereby becomes binding.

Cancellation of a line place
Any cancellation of application must be submitted in writing to Kulturama at least 21 days before the line start. In such an event, an administration fee of SEK 2 500 will be debited.

All client information, such as names and addresses, are processed using modern information technology and are stored at Medborgarskolan, which is Kulturama’s principal.
